Lets Get Scrappy!

This year I have been chosen to be an Island Batik Ambassador. I feel VERY lucky! Next week I will be posting all the fabrics and products that I have received, both in pictures and a video. Today I am sharing a fabulous fun and easy quilt that I have made out of some really colorful (my fav!) fabrics.

I started with choosing from these 5" Stash Builders.

I love the look of hexagons, but I want to machine piece. I am using half hexagons.

i stitched the quilt together with a really nice blue/grey blending thread from Aurifil.




I piece them together in long strips, alternating the direction of where I press the seams. This allows the seams to nest and meet really well. These Schmetz Chrome needles are really great with the batiks.


I added a border to make the quilt the perfect size for a lap quilt.

With some great modern quilting and Hobbs Heirloom

batting, It is finished! I bound it with a fab turquoise.
