This months challenge with Island Batik was to make a New York Beauty quilt, and provided a collection of fabrics.
I am calling it Christmas Cactus. It is about 52" Sq. It will be a fabulous wall-hanging or table topper.
I got a really pretty Christmas collection, Winter Wonders by Kathy Engle.
I pulled a selection of fabrics for a quilt I designed in Electric Quilt.
I played around in Electric Quilt to design something fun and different.
I created a paper pieced block. I needed 16 of these arcs.
These are my paper piecing tools. I set them right next to my Juki Machine. I love the cutting feature of this machine.
Here is the paper piecing. I use Schmetz needles as they really punch through all the layers in paper piecing.

The quarter blocks, which need some pretty creative pressing! I then trimmed and squared the blocks before putting together.
Before borders. Very funky. I added the borders, loaded the quilt on my quilting machine with Hobbs 80/20 batting, and on to the quilting.
Borders have been added, and quilting has commenced. I am using an Anne Bright Design, Christmas Star. So so pretty. I quilt on Handi Quilter longarm quilting machines with Pro-Stitcher.

And of course the quilt by a Christmas tree. Well, this is a tree in the very front of my property and it has grown so much over the last 8 years since we moved here.
