Mardi Gras And PATTERN RELEASE

My Island Batik quilt for February 2024:

This is a 55" square quilt with a traditional log cabin block.

Scroll to the bottom of the page here for Giveaway of 10 FREE PDF patterns.

It is for the Log Cabin Blog hop with all the Island Batik Ambassadors.

We all got to make our own version of a log cabin quilt.

I received an absolutely beautiful collection to make my quilt. It is Breezy, a Kate Colleran Original collection.

It is Just fresh and fun.

I worked in Electric Quilt to design the quilt.

I usually color the quilt quite a few times until I come up with a really nice design.

I was able to incorporate 16 of the 20 fabrics in this collection. I added one fabric for the centers and the binding, Blackberry . It is a yummy dark purple with a few highlights of pinks.

This was a really quick quilt to make.

Look at the pretty snippets from cutting the quilt out:

Here is me stitching out the block: (speeded up, the actual block took me about 10 minutes to stitch).

There are only 9 blocks in this quilt, and the blocks are 18" so it is a fun a really fast quilt project.

Once I got all the quilt blocks together, and pressed with my new Oliso Iron I loaded it to my Handi Quilter longarm for some quilting.

Such totally fun colors, and with Mardi Gras coming up soon, that is what I named it.

I created a whimsical design in ProStitcher Designer to complement the quilt.

I started with a doodle in a triangle and then repeated and rotated it around to create this design that is just perfect for this quilt.

I used an orange thread for the quilting.

I used a fabric from my Pin Dot floral signature collection for the backing.

It was pretty quick to stitch and pretty quick to quilt. Of course I used my favorite Hobbs 80/20 heirloom batting.

All in all, I started it on a Sunday and finished it by the following Saturday.

Don't forget to label your quilts. I ordered some because I almost always forget.

I took some pictures outside. The quilt looks positively neon. All my pictures have not been edited except to crop.

I have added this pattern to my website if you want to make a quick and easy log cabin quilt .

Here is the back cover:

I also have the quilting design available on my website to purchase for your computerized longarm quilting machine.
