Try a tool with Studio 180 and a GIVEAWAY

The challenge with Island Batik for August was to use a new tool(to me) from Studio 180 and use a specific line of fabrics. Scroll down for the giveaway details.

I got the Corner Beam tool.

I played in Electric quilt until I got a design I liked. I named the quilt: Hay Stars.

The fabric group that I am using is Peacock Plume and should be in your shops soon!

I picked my favorite fabrics for the star units and a few square in a square units.

The instructions for the tool are easy to follow, and the units are quick to sew.

I made 2 sizes of the unit. 4" and 2" . The 2" units are super cute!

There is so little waste in getting the units a perfect size.

The background fabrics I chose is Yolk. It is a super summery yellow and white fabric.

I keep a map close by when I am piecing the quilt together. This quilt is all 4" squares.

I don't have a design wall, but I do have longarm bars and a big floor! This is how I layout my quilt as I am stitching it together.

The quilt finished at 64" by 68", perfect lap size quilt.

Next up is the quilting plan.

I had thought about custom quilting it, but I love allover feathers and this just spoke to me! The design is Anne Bright, Simple Feathers .

The quilting in process with a yummy yellow variegated thread. I used Hobbs Cotton/Wool blend. It is my new favorite!

After quilting, I bound the quilt with 18" strips of all the focus fabrics. I love scrappy bindings.

I chose to take the quilt's portrait out in my hay field. It is now a hay bale cover!
